McCain on Gay Adoption

According to a New York Times article (7/13/08), this is Senator McCain's view on gay adoption:

Mr. McCain, who with his wife, Cindy, has an adopted daughter, said flatly that he opposed allowing gay couples to adopt. “I think that we’ve proven that both parents are important in the success of a family so, no, I don’t believe in gay adoption,” he said.

I totally agree with McCain. Sad thing, I am not voting for him.

so McCain does not see LGBT people as full human beings.
He said that a child needs two parents. If a child is adopted by a gay family, are there not two parents?

In my little hometown, the local pharmacist (a straight woman, I think) never married. It's tough to find decent good eligible men out there ... so over time she adopted two beautiful children from South America. They were adopted out of war zones and have been given a wonderful life by this woman. Would McCain also be opposed to this adoption, because there is only "one parent?"

BTW -- she believes in the "it takes a community" to raise her children, and has all sorts of wonderful people in their lives to help them grow as children.

If the McCains of the world met out people, they might form different views?
